Background
Northside Tool Rental was founded in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta in 1953. They rent tools and equipment to contractors and do-it-yourselfers, helping keep Atlantans’ projects affordable and on schedule. Priding itself on its relationships with customers and its communities, NTR has expanded into five locations throughout the Atlanta metro area.
Problem
NTR wanted software that would handle everything – from their inventory to their fleet to their employees and even their finances. Their previous system had them relying on a lot of other software products, which made it difficult to train new team members. As they expanded, they needed a simpler solution.
Solution
In 2017, Northside Tool Rental decided to trust Point of Rental’s Expert software to handle their business. The transition took place during a difficult time of year, in June, but according to Manager of Recruitment and Development Andrew Shields, the training they received in advance of going live allowed them to “almost flip a switch” and use the new system. NTR continues to discover new things within the software that they can use to benefit their business even two years later.
Result
Point of Rental and Northside Tool Rental have made a great pairing, both for their team and for NTR’s customers.
NTR is able to see their inventory at all locations, to make reservations on that equipment without interrupting the other office’s work with inquiries, and to get their customers quick, reliable information.
The recent addition of Inspection App has also helped as they hire new employees for their growing company. It allows leadership to create standard checklists for inspections or any other process that they want to assign to people to ensure that they’re maintaining a consistent level of quality.
Being able to implement those checklists at a management level, track them, and change them quickly and across the board has helped Shields immensely in his role.
“Part of my job is to bring in new employees and get them up to speed,” said Shields. “Having a program that helps the business flow the way that it’s supposed to, but is very easy to teach to others – it’s huge.”
